The role of our canals in tackling climate change

As Co-Chair of the Waterways APPG, I’m an advocate for the vital role our canals play in tackling climate change and enhancing biodiversity.

A recent report by Canal River Trust shows they can reduce urban temperatures by 2°C during heatwaves and supply water to 5 million people annually.

In Stratford and Bow, our canals provide essential habitats and green spaces - protecting them is crucial for a sustainable future.
